Connections exhibition: The UAE and India in Portrait Art

Location: Bait Al Naboodah Date: 12 October 2021 - 11 January 2022
Pearl trade and other local trades played a vital role in intercultural connections in the past; India had the biggest share from this connection, since it was a linking point between Arab and European merchants during the 19th century AD. This strong connection reflected on the people of the Emirates and India through their houses, clothes, jewellery and some traditional foods.

Bait Al Nabooda will host a photography art exhibition titled “Connections exhibition: Portrait Photography Art (The UAE and India in Portrait Art)” by artist Humoud Musabbeh Almeqbali, which will feature unique photographs. The exhibition aims to highlight the connection between the Emirati and Indian cultures, and the impact of Indian culture on the Emirati community, as seen in the life of the late Obaid bin Eissa Alshamsi, the former owner of Bait Al Nabooda.  There are six portrait artworks in the exhibition, in addition to an interactive artwork between the audience and the exhibition.
