Directory of the Arab Tourist Guide
Published in 2011 by the Sharjah Archeology Museum, the Manual of the Arab Tour Guide is the first published work of its kind in the Arab World, and a culmination of the efforts of one the Museum’s guides. The book aims to provide museum tour guides and others like them in the Arab World with valuable information as part of Sharjah’s cultural enlightenment approach in its capacity as the capital of culture for all Arabs. Divided into six chapters, the book focuses on tourism, its importance in the modern world, the role of the Arab tour guide in introducing cultural monuments and important sites by following a scientific approach adopted by expert tour guides around the world. It also provides the tour guide with the tools to organize and conduct a model tour.
The book targets Arab tour guides who work in all cultural, tourist, entertainment, and environmental facilities in the Arab World. It provides a detailed and simplified explanation of a new work approach towards tour guiding. It also shifts work in tourism from being unorganized and haphazard to structured and professional.
