Hamdan and Alia Children Storybooks

Hamdan and Alia Children Storybooks

Sharjah Museum Authority introduced the two characters Hamdan and Alia as the official ambassadors of Sharjah museums to children with the aim of connecting them to museums and their unique artifacts. The two characters also provide families and students with many activities that enhance the role of museums in the life of adolescents using an attractive and modern approach that speaks their language and caters to their interests.

Hamdan and Alia appeared in 2008 in an initiative by Khalid Hussein, a museum guide at the Sharjah Museum of Archeology, because he noticed through his close work with people that children have limited information about archeology overall, and archeology in Sharjah in particular. The initiative targeted children between the ages of 7 to 12 with a series of stories about the museum and the archeology of Sharjah. The story features Hamdan and Alia, who visit the Sharjah Museum of Archeology with their parents and learn about the history of Sharjah during a guided museum tour.

Published in Arabic and English, the series cover the Sharjah Science Museum, Al-Mahatta Museum, Sharjah Museum of Archeology, Sharjah Heritage Museum, Sharjah Classic Cars Museum, Sharjah Aquarium and Sharjah Maritime Museum, and the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization. The stories tell of Hamdan’s and Alia’s visits with their parents to each of these museums, and the highlights of each visit.
