SAWA: A Decade of Cross-Cultural Museum Learning (In-Museum & Virtual Conference)

This conference is organised to mark the 10-year milestone of the SAWA Museum Studies program; an Arab-German program that aims to inspire innovative museum practices for emerging museum practitioners.

The 2-day conference will highlight the journey, achievements, and future of SAWA, offering chances for open discussions, dialogue, and exchange about various museum concepts and topics.

The conference program comprises inspiring panel discussions, engaging workshops, live performances, and presentations that address topics including museum learning, curation, cultural exchange, diversity, interpretation, and community engagement.

The conference brings together museum professionals, educators, and researchers from renowned cultural institutions and museums around the world.

Attendees can choose to join the conference in person at the museum or online via live stream.

The museum is located in the Al Abar area between the Halwan Children Center and the Sharjah Archeology Authority on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saqr Al Qasimi Road leading to the Sharjah Science Museum and Sharjah Broadcasting Authority. Opening Hours :
Saturday to Thursday 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Friday: 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Opening Hours in Ramadan:
Saturday to Thursday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Friday: Closed

Entry Fees to Sharjah Science Museum & Sharjah Archaeology Museum "Joint Ticket":

Children (under 2 years): Free
Children (2-12years): 15.00AED
Adults (13+ years): 25.00AED
The museum entry is free during the following days:
  • International Museum Day on 18th of May.
  • UAE National Day on 2nd and 3rd of December. 
The museum is closed during the following:
  • 29th & 30th of Ramadan (Islamic calendar).
  • First day of Eid Al-Fitr (Islamic calendar).
  • 9th of Dhul Hijjah (Islamic calendar).
  • First day of Eid Al Adha (Islamic calendar).
