Al Qasimia School - Museum of Education in Sharjah

About The Museum

Al Qasimia School, Museum of Education in Sharjah, first opened its doors on January 29, 2025.

Why Visit the Museum?

Located in the Heart of Sharjah, Al Qasimia School takes you on a fascinating journey through the history of education in the Emirate. It tells the story of the first formal school in Sharjah and its significant impact on the development of the UAE.

Here, where His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, studied during the academic year 1951-1952,  you can discover the history of education in Sharjah and learn about the contribution of this school in producing a number of distinguished students, many of whom held senior administrative positions in local and federal government after the Union and the establishment of the United Arab Emirates in 1971.

Explore the Evolution of Education in Sharjah

At Al Qasimia School, you can explore original school books and documents, restored classrooms and photo galleries, and learn about the inspiring stories of distinguished students and teachers. Experience the evolution of the curriculum and how it shaped education in the UAE. The museum offers a glimpse into the past, allowing you to appreciate the rich foundations upon which modern education stands today.

Al Qasimia School was a formal school that bridged the gap between traditional schools and modern education by offering a diverse curriculum. In addition to teaching the Holy Qur’an and the Noble Hadith, it covered other subjects such as reading and writing skills, grammar, calligraphy, mathematics, geography, principles of English language, poetry recitation, sports, and other cultural activities.

Museum Galleries

Once a place of learning, each classroom has been transformed into a total of six galleries, each showcasing a distinct aspect of the school’s history, highlighting its key events, teachers, and students. The galleries also feature the active participations of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, in the scouting movement, festivals, and various activities during his time at the school. The museum also features a Learning Hall, a dedicated space for educational activities and workshops, offering engaging and interactive experiences.
